Meet The Judges

Michél Kroll 

Professional Songwriter, Producer and Music Mentor, Michél Kroll started his music career at the age of 16 and only a year later, he signed his first record deal and moved to Berlin working with Universal Music, Berlin State Opera and Sony Music as touring artist, songwriter, mentor and producer. Alongside this he has performed with international acts like The Wu-Tang-Clan, Bloodhound Gang, Danko Jones, Nick Cave, Powderfinger and Fall Out Boy. Michel is currently head of USM Records at Universal School of Music.

Elissa Rodgers

Elissa Rodger launched her professional Jazz career after undertaking studies at Victorian College of the Arts and Monash University, studying voice and performance. Currently performing at the Melbourne’s most prestige Jazz venues including Paris Cat Jazz Club, Uptown Jazz Club, Lido Jazz Room, Melbourne Recital Centre as well as music festivals, Elissa has been featured interviewed on ABC radio national and Joy FM. Currently working on her original releases, Elissa is making her impact in the Melbourne Jazz music circuit, with plans for an international tour in the US.

Elissa brings many years of hands-on experience in vocal coaching at USM, specializing in performance technique, stage presence, unlocking resonance safe singing and musical interpretation. Her mission is to help aspiring singers to find their ‘WHY’ and create a sustainable and fulfilling relationship with music.

2017 Sonic Presence DJ Competition Results

The inaugural 2017 Sonic Presence competition was a resounding success with the aim of providing a platform for budding artists to share their sound in front of industry professionals.

Since the Sonic Presence DJ competition, Leon Mallia (1st Place), Miky Yeah (2nd) and Daniel George (3rd) have earned their success, this includes exclusive radio play on kiss, the release of three singles, building of their brand, club gigs and the chance to manage their own events.

2018 Sonic Presence DJ Competition Winner

At the finals of Sonic Presence, Luke Gelsumini went on to win against tough competition, with  all five contenders (three women and two men) leaving it all on the stage after mixing up everything from hip-hop to stadium rock. The judges declared it a tight race, but in the end Gelsumini’s silky transitions between the genres of rock, soul and dubstep saw him take the title. Artists he sampled in his set ranged from Freddie Mercury to Sade, with American DJ Getter and dubstep master Excision thrown in for good measure.
